Forging Bonds Through Conversation

Q. How do you balance your role as a leader and a member of the team?

A. As a serving military officer, I believe it is important to lead by example and to demonstrate empathy and compassion to those under my charge. I also recognise the value of listening to the perspectives of my team members and fostering an environment where everyone has a voice and feels valued.

Q. How has your military service changed your perspective on life and the world around you?

A. My military service has provided me with a unique perspective on the world and the importance of collaboration and cooperation. Working with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures has broadened my horizons and reinforced the idea that a shared sense of purpose can bring people together to accomplish great things.

Q. How do you navigate and communicate with a partner who may not share their thoughts or feelings easily?

A. It can be challenging to communicate with a partner who doesn't share their thoughts, but I try to approach the situation with patience and empathy. I make sure to create a safe space for him to open up and share his thoughts or feelings if he wants to.

The Author's Thoughts

"At a certain point in my writing journey, my confidence was severely shaken, which led me to completely give up on writing. The thought of opening a blank page or accessing my book document was no longer exciting like it used to be. My love for writing had diminished, and I was considering quitting altogether.

The pivotal role of Amy's character in the first book was a game-changer. Her choices and behaviour set the stage for the narrative and had a significant impact on the growth of other characters." - Briony Beattie
