Mission: Welfare Support - Wheelchair Handover

in partnership with Game Rangers International

(FFP) Mission is pleased to have been able to offer welfare support to Majory Shuumbwamuntu, living in Zambia with a new wheelchair.

Majory's Story

Majory fell victim to polio at the age of five and became completely paralysed in both legs. Despite being unable to walk for over three decades, Majory has refused to subscribe to the notion of believing that disability is inability. Majory has opted to live an independent life with her two children near the Palace in Shezongo and fetches her own water and firewood, cuts the grass herself, and mud walls her house.

On the 31st of August 2022, Game Rangers International's Community Outreach Manager, Britius Munkombwe, facilitated the handover of a brand-new wheelchair to thirty-six-year-old Majory Shuumwamuntu of Shezongo Chiefdom.

Also in attendance was His Royal Highness Chief Shezongo. He explained that as a result of having to pull herself along by her hands, dragging her legs behind her, Majory has faced serious hygienic challenges, particularly in public places such as the clinic.

His Royal Highness thanked (FFP) Mission for this life-changing support.

"Majory is a true symbol of a strong woman who has not allowed herself to be driven by the spirit of society's sympathy." - Britius Munkombwe
