Special Project #2/2022

Mission: Welfare Support - Wheelchair Handover

in partnership with Game Rangers International

(FFP) Mission is pleased to have been able to offer welfare support to two differently abled young children living in Zambia with a new wheelchair, each.

Elijah and Jose's Story

Elijah and Jose’s mothers have been carrying their children to and from school their whole lives.

Now with their new wheelchairs, they can live more independently and participate in social activities.

On the 13th of September 2022, Game Rangers International's Community Outreach Ranger for Lusaka District, Victor Wotala, facilitated an official handover of two wheelchairs to the Cheshire Homes Society.

Also, in attendance were the Provincial Co-ordinator of the Zambia Agency for Persons with Disabilities, Sherrine Munokombwe, the first ever wheelchair-user to visit the Game Rangers International Wildlife Discovery Centre, youth ambassador Tamiwe and Siame Musonda, Cheshire Homes Society Programme Manager.

The mothers of the two young beneficiaries, Elijah and Jose, expressed their gratitude to (FFP) Mission for this thoughtful donation.

"Through this kind gesture, the two children will be able to go to school and participate in social activities. I am pleased to see that the wheelchairs donated today will help the children to expand their horizons. I also believe that through this donation, it will promote understanding of the special needs of children with disabilities in the communities and contribute to the creation of an inclusive environment in which children with disabilities can fully fulfil their potential." - Sherrine Munkombwe
